U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty believes hard infrastructure such as roads and bridges should be at the forefront of infrastructure improvement plans. I agree with Hagerty and thank him for prioritizing this important issue.
Furthermore, Hagerty expressed the importance of spending taxpayer dollars in a sensible and responsible way. One bill that protects taxpayer dollars and is making its way through Congress is the Flood Resiliency and Taxpayer Savings Act of 2021. HR 481 ensures that federally funded infrastructure projects account for future flood risk. HR 481 emphasizes fiscally responsible spending of taxpayer dollars and ensures federal investments are not wasted on repetitive rebuilding of infrastructure that is not built to withstand flooding, which is instrumental in our flood-ridden state.
The bill is an imperative way to ensure sensible spending on infrastructure moving forward. I would encourage Hagerty to support HR 481 when a companion bill is introduced in the Senate and other legislation that includes proactive features for the betterment of infrastructure.
I am hopeful Hagerty will stand behind his response to the American Jobs Plan and take real steps to prevent wasteful spending.
